Roy was particularly proud of having served as a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army Air Corps during the Second World War. He was stationed in Alaska as a crew chief, readying Mitchell B-25s for deployment to Russia under the Lend-Lease Program and was cited for preventing the theft of the then top secret Norden Bombsight by the Soviet Union.
At Roy's request, there will be no memorial service. He will be cremated and when his wife passes their ashes will be comingled and scattered in a location special to them both. They had a wonderful love to the end – most would be delighted to have just a piece of what they had together. Please remember Roy in your prayers. He was an adoring husband, wonderful father and friend, and a fun loving grandfather and great-grandfather. His life was full and, because of him, so was ours.
In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his three children: son, Roy Michael and wife Wendy, Factoryville, PA; daughter, Karen Cosbey Voshell and husband Don, Douglassville, PA; and son Gary and wife Maggie, Farmington, MN; as well as 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Roy was a former member of the Chatham Emergency Squad and the family would appreciate any donations in his memory to be made to the Squad, 45 Spring Street, Chatham, NJ 07928.
