Ann Hanson Obituary

Ann passed away peacefully in Port Angeles on Monday Dec. 25, 2023 at 82 years old.

Born to Archie and Marguerite (Greensides) Creighton on Sept. 30, 1941 in Grandview, WA. She was the youngest of four children having three older brothers, Paul W., Alan M., David A. Creighton.

Ann's mother passed away when she was only 12 years old, which immediately made her the primary caretaker for the family, which she embraced. She enjoyed doing all the cooking and cleaning while also attending school and doing all her schoolwork.

Ann was fortunate to make lifelong friendships in school very early in life that would help support her as she raised her own family and got through all the trials of life. These friendships meant so very much to Ann and many of those friendships were still intact at the time of Ann's death.

Family meant everything to Ann and she married her fellow classmate & boyfriend, Delbert G. Hanson, whom she met in her senior year, immediately after high school. They started their young married life together as a Coast Guard family before the Coast Guard moved them from Oregon to the Dungeness Lighthouse where they lived a few exciting years taking care of and manning the Dungeness Lighthouse while also starting their family together. Eventually, they settled on a farm in Dungeness/Sequim, WA, then moved to Alaska and then back to the Pacific Northwest and ultimately, settled again in Blynn/Sequim to continue to raise their family. Ann enjoyed gardening, taking care of the farm animals and worked for several years as a cashier at the Southwood's Department store in Sequim. She loved interacting and helping her customers as well as being part of the community.

In the 1990's, Ann and her young daughter, Janet, moved to Bellingham where Ann worked primarily as a cook where she found much delight being around and interacting with young people. During this time, she also ran a boarding home for college girls attending Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA, where she would often encourage the girls to share their cultures through food. Taking care of people, food preparation and serving gave Ann great joy all through her life.

In 2019 Ann made her way back to the Olympic Peninsula to Port Angeles, WA to live with and enjoy family where she remained for the last years of her life.

Ann is survived by one brother Alan & (Evelyn) Creighton, all four of her children, Dellann Elliott & (Garrett) Mydland of Sammamish, WA, Russell Gene Hanson of Bellingham, WA, Raymond Glenn & (Wendy) Hanson of Port Angeles, WA and Janet Marie & (Justin) Shepherd of Bellingham, WA, nine grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Mydland, Dana Kelsey Mydland, Riley Chrisann Elliott, Kylor Thomas Mackey, Hunter Stewart Elliott, Rayann Adell Alva Hanson, Kelsie Hannah Mackey, Blair Leeann Shepherd, Hank Mayday Malone Shepherd and one great grandchild, Atlas Leaven Eggiman.

There will be a graveside service for Ann held at Sequim View Cemetery Friday Jan. 5th 2024 at 1:00pm and will be officiated by Chaplain Paul Fiorini.

A "Celebration of Life" gathering & BBQ for Ann is also being planned by her children for Saturday, June 1, 2024 hosted by her eldest daughter, Dellann Elliott Mydland, and her husband, Garrett Mydland, at their home in Sammamish, WA from 12:30p-4:30p.
