Richard James Morton, 72, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2025. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Mabel E. (Shank) McNaughton and the late Richard D. Morton. He was the loving husband of Janette (Azelvandre) Morton for 42 years.
Richard worked for the Elizabethtown Boro for more than 40 years. He was very involved in the community and with St. Peter Catholic Church of Elizabethtown, even leading the youth group. Richard enjoyed nature any way he could, bird watching, hunting, fishing, skiing, and mountain climbing in his younger years. He was also very active with the Bainbridge Boy Scouts, acting as the Cub Master. Above all, Richard was a family man who loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his three children, Christopher James Morton, Jason Andrew Morton (Sarah), and Jessica Lynn Capelli (Josh); ten grandchildren, Madisen Morton, Gabriella, Joel, Bridget, Anthony, Harper, and Dominic Capelli, Austin, Isaac, and Autumn Morton; two siblings, Patricia-Jo Hickly and Fred McNaughton; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Morton, and his stepfather, C. Fred McNaughton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at 11AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 904 Mill Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. A time of visitation will be held from 9AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in the St. Peter's Historic Catholic Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA.
