John Patrick O'Donnell Jr., of Brighton, MI passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in the afternoon hours of Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was 85 years old.
Pat was born on February 27, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan to parents, John Patrick O'Donnell Sr. and Alice O'Donnell (Logue). On September 7, 1963, Pat married the love of his life, Judy Anne Mettetal, at Christ the King Church in Detroit. In 1977, they moved to Brighton, Michigan, where they built a beautiful life together and raised their growing family. For decades, John's presence in the community and his unwavering devotion to his loved ones made a lasting impact on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Pat had a true gift for connecting with people. A social and selfless man, he was always willing to help others, ensuring the happiness and well-being of those around him. He took pride in being the family's problem solver and found joy in guiding his grandchildren, especially when it came to teaching them how to drive. His love for the outdoors was seen in the many camping trips, hunting excursions, and fishing adventures he shared with family and friends. These moments created cherished memories that will be carried on for generations.
A man of deep faith, he was devoted to his church and the values it instilled in him. His love for his family was evident, and he never hesitated to put their needs before his own. Whether offering support, encouragement, or simply a listening ear, he was a source of strength and love to those around him. His kindness, generosity, and steadfast faith will be remembered always, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judy O'Donnell; his children, John (Christina) O'Donnell III, Kathleen (Eugene) Bough, Robert O'Donnell, and Michael (Elizabeth) O'Donnell; his grandchildren; Jennifer (Kris), James (Shelby), Andrew (Megan), Loguen, Delaney, Vanessa, Tony, Sophia, Bobby, Phillip, and Jessica; his great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Jaxson, Parker, Ryland, and Mya; his sister, Rosemary (Tim) Marciniak, and brother, Edward (Darlene) O'Donnell, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.
Pat was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and William O'Donnell, and his sister, MaryEllen Gerard.
