Mrs. Eleanor Louise Austin, daughter of T.B. Copeland and Annie Louise Sampson was born on July 4, 1947, in Valdosta, Georgia. She had early childhood education in Valdosta, Georgia. Her family later moved to Newark, New Jersey where she attended Arts High School. After graduating, she worked at several companies doing telecommunications including University of Medicine and Dentistry (now Rutgers), AT&T, New Jersey Bell, The Census, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Jersey, and USI.
Eleanor was a loving and dedicated woman to her family and friends. She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church for over forty years. She married the love of her life, Steidberger F. Austin in 1984. She leaves behind the love of her life, two daughters, Cheryl A. Bratcher of Pennsylvania and Lorie L. Austin of New Jersey, two grandchildren, Harold Bratcher III and Robert Bratcher of Pennsylvania, one niece, Danielle Durant, two nephews, William Frasier and Anthony Fraiser of New Jersey, and cousins Alvin Copeland of Georgia, Alice and Elyse Copeland of Georgia, Carolyn Sampson of Georgia, George Copeland of Georgia, and many other family members from Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina, Tennessee,and across the United States.
Eleanor was a devoted mother to her two daughters and always tried to assist other family members in any way she could. Her youngest daughter was always there and a very dedicated caregiver.
Eleanor L. Austin passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 due to health complications.
