Mary Warden Obituary

Mary Green Warden, 89, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2023, at her residence at White Horse Village, not far from her beloved Plumsock Road home where she had lived since the late 1950's. Born Mary Morris Green in Padanaram, MA to Peter and Catherine Green in 1934, she enjoyed her pony and sailing her beetle cat in a loving home with her older sister Alice. She attended Lincoln School in Providence RI, and Briarcliff College, NY, married her sweetheart, Bill Warden, from Haverford, PA, as he entered the Air Force, and they later settled to raise their four children in Newtown Square. Mary grew to love the Chester County area, her church Good Samaritan Church in Paoli, her hospital, The Chester County Hospital in West Chester where she served as Trustee for many years, and her friends in the Sugartown Historic District and elsewhere.  Mary continued her love of sailing with her husband Bill, and they traveled extensively along the Atlantic coast from Canada to the Caribbean for over five decades. They eventually found their paradise in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas where they put down roots for nearly fifteen winters. Bill passed away at their home in Abaco in 2015 and, since then, dementia had slowly interfered with Mary's life without him.  Mary is survived by her four children, Catherine Elkins (Chris), Bill (Lee), Jeff (Krista), Rick (Kathy) and fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
