Patrick Healy Obituary
Longtime Siskiyou County resident Patrick Francis Healy passed away May 2, 2012 in Medford with his family at his side. He was 66 years old.
Pat was born August 8, 1945 in San Francisco to Chief Steward Roy C. Wheeler and 2nd Lt. Patricia Feehan Wheeler. In 1947 his adoptive father Harold Healy moved the family to Dunsmuir. They lived in Mt. Shasta and Weed. In 1952 the family settled along Parks Creek in Edgewood. Pat attended Weed and Edgewood Elementary schools, Weed High School and graduated from Yreka High School in 1963. Pat was a great athlete in high school, earning varsity letters in football for three years, first at Weed High and then at Yreka, where he played defensive tackle.
In 1965 he married his high school sweetheart Sharon Crovelle. Together they raised two daughters, Karen and Laura. In 1972 Pat purchased Yreka Transfer from Sharon's father, Tony Crovelle. Pat operated the Transfer until 1990. He also owned Magic Rain Car Wash and the Oil Changer. His favorite job was his last job with Siskiyou Opportunity Center. The clients he supervised at Colliers Rest Area made a profound impact on his life and he was deeply saddened when illness forced his resignation.
Growing up on Parks Creek, he became an avid fisherman and had an intimate relationship with every fishing hole in the area. In his younger years he was a class A trap shooter. Patrick especially enjoyed hunting dove and geese. He never missed an opening day of deer season. He also enjoyed golf and was a member of the Shasta Valley Golf Club and Shastina Mens Club. When he was 21 he joined the Yreka Elks Club and in the early years was active in their youth program. At one time he coached Pop Warner youth football. In 1987 he married Patricia Tilson Ramey, and they enjoyed 25 happy years together.
Pat is survived by his wife, Patricia; two daughters, Karen Eller and Laura Healy, both of Yreka; a stepson, Robert Ramey of Montague; and a stepdaughter Diane Ramey Richardson of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Justin, Brandon, Anthony, Adrian, Sarah, Daniel and Reagan Eller, Ronnie Watson, Jere and Brianne Ramey, Nicholas and Melissa Richardson; and three half-brothers, Mark Healy of Weed, John Wheeler of Howell, MI and Jim Wheeler of Electric City, WA. He was preceded in death by his birth parent Roy Wheeler, his mother Patricia Healy, his adoptive father Harold Healy and his twin brother Michael Healy.
