Dear Great Aunt Wendy,

I have many a treasured memory of being dropped off at the gate of Eric and yours driveway, and running uphill with Shane to 'surprise' you with our arrival. I can still see your face when you saw us, you stood near the big tree on your lawn and it was as though you and the tree were one.
We were equally happy to see you.
I remember you making us cold drinks in metallic cups, walking around with you and your dogs, and though I don't remember it in person, but from the photo, you putting me on your horse Flo, the first horse I ever rode as a shy, I'm guessing two year old.
I remember your kind and observant nature. We lost touch as the years went by, but the memory of who and how you were always stayed with me. I've spoken of you often over the years, heartened to be related to such a robust woman who lived so in tune with the land. Your memory lives on, with the impression you made on me.
Rest in peace, Aunty Wendy ❤

As a a kid, I loved visiting Wendy and Eric. Their place was magical to a young boy. Wendy was caring and I always saw her as an incredible woman. RIP great aunt.

I have many wonderful memories of times shared with Aunty Wendy and Uncle Eric. Eric was my Mum, Colleen's elder brother. We loved to visit them and enjoyed our time in the country away from the city. As a family we had an amazing holiday at the Huxley Station, Lake Ohau. It was magnificent and I didn't want to leave! We also had lots of day trips to their farm at Domett, Cheviot. I had several holidays there too and enjoyed riding Jack the horse bareback. The farm life was great and we always had lots of laughs! We then had lots of day trips to Pleasant Point by Geraldine.
Thanks for all the wonderful memories.

My family where on Lake Ohau Station and Wendy and Eric were managers at Huxley Gorge station. They where the only neighbours for miles. In those days the Ohau Valley was very isolated. It was always fun seeing Wendy and Eric when they called in. I have very fond memories of them both.

I remember going on a roadie through Molesworth with Wendy many years ago. It was a great trip. She was a very special friend of Lil and Dudley Parsons. Condolences to Wendy's family.

I have so many special memories of you Wendy. You were a fore runner of women competing in Dog Trials and I loved watching you compete at Burkes Pass and other local trials. I bought my favourite pony Chippy from you, I was a bridesmaid at your wedding and I loved watching you apply lipstick when you stayed with my mum and dad in Fairlie. You were always a special person to them. Thinking of you with love, Wendy Cannan née Perry.
