Walter WRIGHT Obituary

Passed away peacefully in his sleep at Nazareth House on Sunday June 30, 2024 aged 83 years. Beloved husband of the late Bev (nee Saville). Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Michelle and Stephen Robinson, Grant and Tania, John and Julianne, Debbie and Simon Allen, and Megan and Mike Webster. Much loved Grandad to Samantha and Josh Drayton, Blake and Hannah Robinson, Hayden, Simon (deceased), Cameron and Georgia, and Jacob Wright; Kelly (deceased), Harrison, Benjamin and Rebecca Wright; Molly, Grace and Charles Allen; George, Hazel and Henri Webster. And all the partners of the grandchildren. Great grandad to Millie and Jackson Drayton. Loved son of the late Percy and Marie Wright, and oldest brother of Gavin and Kate Wright, Maureen and Bill Flett, Noeline and Muz of Timaru. Will be sadly missed by the extended family and many friends. Many thanks to the staff at Nazareth House for all their loving care of Walter. Messages to the Wright family c/- 19 London Street, Christchurch 8013. A Requiem Mass for Walter will be celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church, 106 Main South Road, Sockburn, on Friday July 5, 2024, at 1.30pm followed by burial at Avonhead Memorial Cemetery. Rosary vigil to be held at Church Tomorrow (Thursday) at 6.30pm.

Only just found out about the passionflower of Walter. My condolences to all the family. So sorry we were not able to attend today. I can imagine there would have been plenty of wonderful stories told.

Deepest sympathy to Wally's Family. Played for the Celts in Timaru in the 60s he was a great guy and enjoyed the beers after the game. Our paths crossed many times in later life and Wally was always hospitable. Rest easy Wal.

My sincere condolences to Wally´s family. I have fond memory´s of doing business with him at Mainfreight and then, later our Friday night drinks at you know where. My apologies but regretfully I am unable to attend his farewell .RIP you top man
