Samuel Doyle (Sam):
Born on March 22, 1937.
Sadly passed away on 5th March 5, 2021. Sam left the world peacefully at Elms Court Lifecare in Christchurch and our sincere thanks and appreciation go to the management and staff for their superb care. Dad was a remarkable person who lived what many would consider to be a remarkable life, and who was a multitude of things to a multitude of people. It was a life that included extremes that the majority would, and have, struggled to comprehend. However, most importantly, he was a loved and proud father, partner, grandfather, son, brother, relation and friend. Sam declined a service, but for those of you who have the inclination, we would sincerely appreciate any thoughts or stories that you may like to share with us. Such thoughts and stories that will otherwise be lost to time without the act of their sharing. Sam was in my Sister Ella's(Gordon) class at Fairlie School.

I grew up in Fairlie and knew the Dobson Family well. I played rugby with Sam and he was a very strong man and a great Team Mate.Sam was a highly respected Blade Shearer and competed in the Golden Shears in Masterton which I remember gave my late Father a great thrill as he had spent a lot of his earlier years as a Blade Shearer. In later years I often had a chat to Dobbie when I was a Guest Artist at Timaru Country Music Assn. Club Days..Deepest Sympathy to the Family, RIP. Sam!
