I only just found out about his passing away. I knew Ryk through bowling in the 90s. Always a great guy to bowl with and against. He was definitely a hard case and a great guy.

Sorry to hear of Ryks passing. He was a genuinely nice bloke. RIP.

A neighbour and friend from many decades ago. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to your celebration of life, however I've just watched it online. Only the log tooth Pukaki St Whanau will remember the presence you had at the roller skating rink on Caroline Bay and the confidence you possessed when strutting around the then 'Westend Public Swimming Pool'. You truly were the 'John Travolta' of Timaru. I was so proud to hear you channeled a lot of your efforts into improving students lives. It was a lovely service with wonderful singing. Arohanui to you and all your Whanau.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Rest in Eternal life my dear friend Ryk, thank you for all the love, As I told you last Monday when I bumped in to you outside Coundown that my husband and I are planning to see you soon and we both left as I walked away from you and while you were driving away too we both stopped, we had stared at each other and wish each other well, and I kept waving to you until you´re gone I didn´t realised that was the goodbye for you and me. I was in Chch hospital on last Thursday for my tests, and you died on the Saturday, I just can´t believe that I won´t see you around Timaru again. You´ll truly be missed and aroha to your family and friends. My heart is heavy it´s because I truly loved you as my friend. Thank you for everything, you´re the one who taught me to be brave and always walk with your head up high. Thank you for everything especially for all the love.
