Ray very consciously was the gardener for my parents for over 20 years and then following their passing, our gardener.
He was reliable and empathised with older folk.
We are very sorry to hear of his passing.

My deepest sympathy to all Ray's family.
Our days together at Springbrook school are some of my happiest memories.
The New Years Eves and the Bonfires we had, especially the one when the gorse fence went on fire and we were all too scared to go inside and tell the adults!
Your family will miss you so much and my thoughts are with them all.

My mother was married to Ray for many years (Sandra Carnegie). Ray was like a grandparent to our kids when they were little. He still has a picture our daughter painted when she was 4 hanging on his wall, he alway made a point of showing us it was there when we dropped in to visit..He always had a cheeky smile and a funny sense of humour. We wish to send our condolences to the family and will always remember him fondly.

Ray you were always Mr Nice Guy always helpful, always smiling, dependable, and you tollerated my silly practical jokes in such a gentlemanly manner.
The best one was when you thought Amos was tooting the hooter of your car. you walked around your car at least 6 times before you saw me ?quietly? sitting in my car. Sorry buddy- & you never let me forget it either!
Geez I'm going to miss our chats & visits.

Very sad to hear about our neighbour and friend Ray, you were one of the first to welcome us to Timaru, always stopping for a chat and genuinely interested in our renovations, we will certainly miss your words of encouragement and frequent chats, in your memory we will soldier on, also our thoughts to your family at this sad time.

Keep expecting to see our neighbour Ray over the fence/walking by. A neighbour we could always count on to bring in wheelie bins and keep an eye on the goings on while we went away-looking after our garden and chooks. Great for a yarn to over the fence and never seen without Amos tottering around close by! Will miss Ray very much and thinking of his family at this time.

Condolences to Ray's family at this sad time. Thank you Ray for all of the painting and odd jobs over the years. You always saw a need and helped when others wouldn't and your workmanship was second to none. RIP
