What a terrible shock to hear of Ralph's passing. I'm so glad I had time for a chat last time I was in Timaru - about a year ago. Ralph was always so friendly and had a ready smile!

Dear Faye and family, it was with a great shock and great deal of sadness and grief that a friend from Australia finally tracked me down today to let me know Ralph had passed away.

The friendship Ralph and I shared went back to Timaru College days and right up until recently had frequently contacted each other, having similar interests to communicate.

I was regretful when only on the last day of my two weeks quarantine on returning to New Zealand to live in 2020 during covid did we realise that Ralph and Faye lived just over the back fence of where I was staying and on my release there was no time for me to see him before my onward journey to Timaru.

Similarly when I had to leave Timaru for Nelson we only just missed meeting up yet again and so were reduced to messaging. I am so sad that things happened so quickly but just goes to show that no matter what, time should be taken to connect face to face with dear ones because life is so fickle.

Ralph was a wonderful friend and practitioner with incredible dedication to his work and clients with great depth of empathy, care, compassion and kindness, and was very proud of you, Faye, his children and grandchildren.

His integrity, sense of humour and nostalgia was very much appreciated by me alongside all those other wonderful qualities.

Ralph will be sorely missed in my life, and my heartfelt sincere sympathies I send today to you all in knowing how much you will all go through in the days and years to come in your grief with the passing of Ralph, with big hugs for you all.

Thank you to Ralph for being such a wonderful presence in my life and in knowing that his spirit will always be alive.

KIndest Regards

So very sorry to hear of Ralph's passing. I have known him since school days, then he worked with my Mum at POSB. Recently crossed paths with him only about 6-7 weeks ago, when he recognised me and called out to say hello. So glad he did. Never thought that would be the last I heard from him. Sincerest sympathy to all family.

I've been friends with Ralph for more than 9 years. He was the nicest, most straight forward and integrity filled person I've ever had the pleasure of coming across in this life. His personality was infectious, his demeanour honorable and his wisdom and insights into my health challenges filled me with purpose and hope.

He helped me so much in my fight with cancer and instilled within me hope, humour, joy and a never quit attitude.

These past 9 years have been some of the most challenging in my life and I couldn't have managed without his love, firm attention to discipline and purpose.

I miss you and will miss you for a very long time, my friend.
