Rako KELLY Obituary

Rako passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital on Friday, October 17, 2025, aged 71 years. Loved father and father-in-law of Tania and Jamie, and loved father of Korina, David, Michael, and the late Baby Jane. Loved grandfather of Zannyx, Murphy, Willow, Remy, and Tameko. Loved by Sandra Kelly (deceased). A small private service will be held to remember Rako and his life. Messages to the Kelly family, c/- PO Box 772, Timaru 7940.

Shocked and saddened to hear about Rako who was uncle to my children Jason and Kirstie bates him and Sandra used pick them up from ch ch and take them back timaru for holidays andspoil them love to you all sorry for your loss love sue

My Sincere condolences to the Kelly children.
I first met Rako approximately 52yrs ago when my friend Michael Bayley brought him up from Southland.
Rako liked it so much he decided to stay.
My family had a lot to do with Rako in the first 10 or so years he was here especially my brother Dave and myself.
Rako was Daves best man and we all attended Rako and Sandras wedding.
As the years passed we saw less of one another.
The last time we spoke was in Timaru Hospital Rako was with his son David and we talked about our ailments!
I wonder who David and Michael were named after?
For all the good times.
