Maureen O'CONNELL Obituary
Of Gore, passed away suddenly at Dunstan Hospital on January 2, 2022, aged 77 years. Loved wife of the late Maurice. Adored mother and mother-in-law of Kelvin and Jacinta; Wayne; David and Rachel; Tracey, Dean and the late Tony. Cherished and proud Nana/Gran of her 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Much loved sister and sister-in-law of Kathy and the late Snow; Dinny (dec) and Pam; Colleen and Ray; Kevin and Sylvena; Rosalie (dec) and John; Maureen and Noel. Special friend of Heather and Ewen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be left at the service for Diabetes NZ. A service for Maureen will be held at St John The Baptist Catholic Church, Killarney Street, Alexandra, at 1.30pm on Friday, January 7, followed by a private cremation. A vaccine pass will be required to attend the service. I am sorry not to have met with Maureen's family yesterday for the wonderful tribute of her life. It was a very difficult day for you all. She was an absolutely amazing woman truely dedicated to her family and any passion and interest she was evolved in. I am a nurse at the Lumsden Medical Centre and was a District Nurse helping her recovery when she had cancer. I also work for Diabetes New Zealand Southland and visited the Gore Diabetes Group regularly. I very much enjoyed Maureen's company each time we met. We are extremely grateful for all her hard work keeping the Diabetes Group in Gore going. She was loved by all and will be sadly missed everyone.
