Mary's family wish to thank you for all your lovely messages and memories. I have printed them off so the family can read and enjoy them as I have. Your support is very much appreciated and of great comfort to us. (Jenny Simmonds - sister)

Mary lived with us when she taught at Mt. Somers school in the late 1940's and early 1950's. (About 4 years). We really missed her when she moved on - transfer to another school I presume. Mary left a lasting impression on our family. I have no doubt she lived a good life.

Miss O'Grady was my teacher in Standard 2 at Highfield School in 1982. She was such a lovely teacher and lady. I enjoyed re-introducing myself and chatting with her, when we met whilst shopping at New World more recently. She remembered me from all those years ago. RIP Miss O'Grady. x

Mary, or Miss O´Grady, taught me sewing, embroidery, including smocking at West and Highfield School. While I missed having her as a classroom teacher when I moved to Highfield a year before she did, she did teach at least one of my sisters. I will always remember her as an excellent teacher who was firm but fair and extremely patient. You will all miss her greatly, especially Shirley.

"Miss Mary O'Grady" was my schoolteacher in the 1950's at West School, Timaru. She was superb, well loved by pupils and I have seen her several times since. Here in this photo she is at one of our school reunions - 2014.
Some of us visited her in the Strathallan Home where she was last October - only a few weeks ago. She recognised each of us...
She died on Christmas day.
RIP Mary - you deserve a rest. Fionna Hill.

Mary O'Grady was my schoolteacher at West School in Timaru in 1957. She was inspirational and a good influence in my young school life. In adulthood I have visited her several times and am so pleased we shared some time together last October whilst I was at a school Class Reunion and visiting Timaru (I had left 1n 1967) She clearly remembered me and even described my mother.
