Margaret an inspiration she came to work with us at Timaru Emergency department ED when Friends of the Emergency Department FEDS were first introduced to ED. Margaret was truly amazing and love by all - staff and Patients. She could "talk" to anyone and she certainly could talk. She worked so very hard and even when she was in her 90's was still changing beds and doing up buttons on those horrible gowns. That was the job she hated the most but never complained even when another huge pile was presented for her to sort the buttons. So anyone who has been to ED and had to wear a hospital gown - thanks to Margaret they had buttons done correctly on the shoulders!!
She also looked after the staff and brought bags of nuts and dried banana chips every week just what we needed when ED was too busy to get a break. Cups of tea and coffee for everyone. I was very privileged to know Margaret as a friend and a colleague she was always the life and soul of any gathering - such stories she could tell. She also helped fill my garden with all sorts of cuttings of purple plants. One she gave me a ground over has saved me so much work weeding as it just covers everything.
Thank you Margaret 99 yrs amazing you achieved so much while working with us- TV star - on the programme good sorts, and the Hospital Gala award a real honor.
Blessing to the family I know she will be missed but what wonderful memories.
Much love
Angela
