Kenneth CALLON Obituary

Passed away peacefully at Timaru Hospital, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, aged 94 years. Loving husband for 68 years to Valmai, and much-loved father and father-in-law of Dave and Clare, Ross and Jill, and Phil and Blair. Loved grandfather of Sam, Brooke, and Lily and Mac, and a loved brother-in-law and uncle to his wider family. In keeping with Ken's wishes, a private cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date; details to follow. A true gentleman and friend to many. Messages to Dave Callon, 18 Napier Street, Belleknowes, Dunedin 9011.

I was saddened to learn of Ken's passing and of the void he will leave in everyone's lives. I recall a man of dry wit, humor, and sociability who enjoyed people. These are traits that will live on through his sons and grandchildren. He will always be with you. Kia kaha Val and whanau.

To Val and the extended Callon family, please accept our deepest sympathy on the very sad loss of Ken. We had many interactions during our time at the Mount View Store, mainly on sport of course (but sometimes the weather). Ken knew his stuff on many fronts and will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Our thoughts are with you all.

To Val, Dave and extended families. So sorry to read of Ken's passing - an Old Boys stalwart , and one of life's great characters. I always enjoyed our post-match chats from a wise and true sportsman himself. Thinking of you all. RIP Ken. Regards Brett Jenkins, Lake Hawea.

Dear Val, Dave, Ross, Phil & families & all who loved him
Special thoughts to you all at this saddest time.
Ken was lovely, every interaction was a joy.
We will all miss his kind countenance, cheeky smile & his smelly tomatoes.
The world is a little poorer now, but we are richer for having known him.

Condolences to the Callon family, Ken being a staunch pirate gave him the right to be a one eyed jersey pulling supporter for Timaru Old Boys. His input into the club behind the scenes was instrumental into their success in the 70s and his prowess on the bowling rink made him a feared but popular competitor. Always opinionated and often proved right, was always great to have a robust discussion with.
Thanks for the memories Ken and of course the wind beneath his wings Valmae.
