John Douglas (Jack):
RNZAF 414564, POW. Passed away peacefully on March 11, 2016, at Motueka, aged 97. Loved husband of the late Elma Hardie, and the late Lorna Hardie. Loved father and father-in-law of Rae and Tim Rayward, Duncan and Lyn, Noel and Rachel, Claire Hardie and John McCoy, Bruce and Anne. Will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended stepfamily. Many thanks to the caring staff at Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital. In lieu of flowers a donation to the NZ Red Cross would be appreciated. A pilot, farmer, inventor, out-doors-man and raconteur who led a full life. A memorial service will be held at the Motueka Memorial RSA, 49 High Street, Motueka, on Thursday, March 17, commencing at 1.30pm. Messages to 299 Hill Street, Richmond, 7020.

Sorry was not able to be present yesterday. What a lovely man, so gentle and thoughtful and very much respected by all his extended family. Until we meet again Jack, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
