Such a good friend and neighbour in Greymouth days. On our moving day everyone and everything had gone and I was left alone struggling to clean up when dear John arrived on his way home from work. Still in his good work clothes, he rolled up his sleeves and cleaned and vacuumed until every room was spotless. This is kindness you never forget. Valerie

We will miss your smile, John - the quiet strength it carried and the kindness it offered. Your energy, tireless work ethic, and deep empathy for your community left an impact that won´t be forgotten.

You were more than a volunteer - you were a Lion in every sense of the word. Whether it was rolling up your sleeves for a working bee, lending a hand at an event, or offering quiet encouragement to those around you, your presence made a difference.

John was a man of action and heart. He served not for recognition, but because he cared. About people. About community. About doing the right thing.

Thank you, John, for the legacy of service you leave behind. We are all better for having known you.
