A loving farewell to you Great-Uncle George. I have vague memories of large family gatherings at your house, and recall numerous stories of your walks. But I am grateful to have spent more quality time with you in recent years, visiting you with Mum. You loved hearing about my travels, and my most treasured memory of us is when looking through a Photobook of my Africa travels...upon spotting a rather cheeky photo I had included you threw your head back in surprised laughter with a loudly exclaimed "Marvellous!" Thank you for the shared stories. You will be missed.

George was our neighbour for over 30 years. A true Fairview icon. Long walks, trimming the hedge, interesting historical stories all defined a notable man. Our regards to the family. Angela and Gavin Spence

Mr Shearman taught me at TGHS, I remember his kindness, his fantastic chalk maps of the world and his love of geography. I have such fond memories of him, he was a true gentleman who believed in his students. I am forever grateful for his confidence in me. I send you all my very warmest thoughts of your special Dad.

Mr Shearman, many years ago you taught me Geography, you were a gentle, kind teacher. You were also a gentleman and a gentle man who loved his family. I had the privilege of interviewing you about 15 years ago. You were so interesting to talk to and Margaret joined in and made a lovely afternoon tea. Thank you for being such a great influence in my life.
