Eleanor Long Obituary

Eleanor Loretta Long, born November 26, 1937, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at Frederick Health Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Eleanor was born in the borough of the Bronx, in New York City. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes Nixon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mabel, Joan, Patricia and her brothers, Joseph, Richie, and Johnny.

Eleanor met and married Wayne E. Long in New York. They recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Eleanor was a long-time resident of Braddock Heights, where she and Wayne raised three sons- Michael (Tammy), Patrick (Lisa) and Christopher (Marilyn). She was devoted to her grandchildren, Shaun (Kate), Tyler (Samantha), Ashlyn (Taylor) and Matthew. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren- Lincoln, Dawson, Henry, Shelley, and Darby.

The private service for Eleanor was held at Stauffer Funeral Home, Sunday, December 14, 2025 and her final resting place will be at Mt. Olivet, both in Frederick.

Eleanor requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

The family plans to hold a celebration of life in the spring of 2026.
