17 December 1940 - 29 November 2023 Beloved son of the late Doris Phoebe Jean and Ivan Albert Merry Thomson; cherished brother of the late Dorothy Rae Lamb and Ivan James Thomson; and adoring husband of the late Soana Ta'Ake Velangilala Katavake. Survived by, and the proud Father to, Tevita Halauafu Thomson, Michael Antonio Albert Thomson and Joshua Kiola Vaughan Thomson; doting Father-in-law to Denise Anne, Ashley Nadia and Elizabeth Sarah Jane; loving Granpop to Thomas William, Jessica Grace, Daniel David, Piper Soana Anne, Phoebe-Jean Antonia, Antonio Turuhia Soane Patita, Stanley Dean Albert, Soana Anne Rose and George Kiola William Merry; and the greatest Great-Granpop to Wiremu Halauafu, and Theo John. Thanks to staff at the Hospital ICU & CBay. A celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 12.00pm, at St Mary's Church, 24 Church Street, Timaru (please note change of venue), followed by a burial at Timaru Cemetery.
