David HIGHET Obituary

HIGHET, David Stephen:
1953 - 2023
Pareora and Waimate. Much loved son of the late Rev. Malcolm and Margaret Highet (latterly of Geraldine), and brother of John (London), Mac (New York), Alan (New York), Dr Ruth (Wanaka), and Bill Highet (Auckland). A resident of Pareora for the last 20 years, David had travelled extensively, loved the outdoors, was passionate about music and enjoyed meeting new people and learning about lifestyles and religions. Having suffered from schizophrenia and a recurring brain tumour for many years, David passed away at Lister Home in Waimate on May 20. David will be sorely missed by family and friends and remembered for his laugh and his interest in others even during his toughest days. A private burial has been held in Geraldine and donations may be made in David's name to the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand (donate.mentalhealth.org.nz).
