David DOBSON Obituary

Lewis passed peacefully in his sleep, at his beloved home in Te Anau, on Monday, April 29, 2024. Dearly devoted to and loved husband of the late Patricia Mary (Pat). Adored and adoring father and father-in-law of the late Terri-Belinda Dobson and Lynley and Dallas Gray. A respected and much-loved member of the Dobson, O'Connor and Gray families both in New Zealand and overseas. Son of the late Stan and the late May Dobson (ex Fairlie, Levels, Timaru), brother of the late Lynley and late Don Welton (USA) and their extended family in America who loved him dearly. A very good friend to many. Best buddy and hugely missed by his constant companion Tala.

Great memories were made when my Father (John Le Comte) and his twin brother (Lew Le Comte) visited you over the years. I too was pleased to catch up with you and Tala. Always enjoyed our conversations. Condolences to family.

Goodbye dear Lewis. Rest in peace with the Great Spirit. You have been in my life for as long as I can remember. John and I will always remember your care, and Pat's too, as you supported him as he learnt how to come to terms with his diabetes. You both loved and encouraged him all the way. Alice, Tom, Paul and Jonty loved all your fantastic stories....did you really kill that bear that became a rug (LOL)? We will look after Lynley, Dallas and Tala! Rest easy, you deserve it! A life well lead. Now reunited with Patricia and Terri.

Rest in Peace with the Great Spirit Lewis. You were much loved by us all, told great stories which the kids believe to this day! Did you really kill the bear that that became the rug on your floor? (LOL). We will look after Lynley and Dallas. Love Cush, John and family.

Lewis, gosh how I will miss you! Your sense of humor, your straight up talk about Donald Trump and the world, the many laughs we shared and even the tears. Your way of helping others with your kind gestures never went unnoticed. Tala will be lost with her Daddy gone but she's in good hands Louie. Thank you for everything you have done for me. You have been a bloody good friend and I'm already missing you like crazy.
Rest in peace Louie, nows your time to be reunited with your lovely Pat and Terri Belinda. Forever in my heart

Lewis `Firpo´ Dobson
left an indelible impression on countless people throughout his years.

His unrelenting work ethic, combined with his pro-athlete like approach to diabetes defiance, literally enhanced landscapes on his beloved `Tan Bar´, the banks of the Waiau River and beyond.

He was a passionate prankster, jokester, avid planter of NZ native flora, indigenous american advocate and overall marvelous human, who was rarely afraid to express his love for others.

A truly great spirit, father figure and inspiration, who is finally at rest with his Great Spirit.

Naturally our hearts go out to his immediate family and his friends.

My family and I will miss him terribly.

Rest easy big guy. Thanks for the yarns, the stubbornness, the Ferrero Rochers and the best stories. You touched many lives. Your spirit will live on. Go well x
