On behalf of the South Canterbury Model Engineers Society I wish to pass on our condolences to the Orton family on the passing of our Charlie. Charlie was a respected member and a keen yachtsman both on trailer yachts and model yachts and was always friendly and good for a chat. He was a dear friend to many in our communiuty.

So sorry to read of Charlie's passing. Great appreciation of all the work put into helping organise The Aviemore Classic over the years. From the original Unleashed crew.

We were great mates at SOHS 1958 to 1960 .I am glad I met you both at the 2017 school reunion. Charlie and I had a good catchup.

So sorry to hear of Charlie's passing

I am so sad to learn tonight of Charlie´s passing, unfortunately after his service was held. That does not lessen, however, the heartfelt sorrow at his loss and the wonderful memories of fun we had sailing for all those years. Lorraine, please feel my hug of condolences and my best wishes to you for what will be difficult times ahead without one of life´s truly honourable characters and allround nice guy who would do anything for anyone. So sad to hear that Charley has passed way. My dad and his worked together in the NZR, Balclutha. We both were together in the same classes at primary school and Charley was a great lad with a good sense of humour.
