RIP Alan you will be sadly missed by so many there and myself and the boys will miss you. No one had so much drive and knowledge and with both work and home you always gave 100%. You were always so happy and chirpy and never saw you happier than when you were digging into a good Korean feed. Test peacefully my friend

So sad to hear of Alan's passing. Alan was one of the most dedicated gym members you could ever meet, having joined the club pretty much from the day we opened back in 1990. He never missed a circuit and in fact the
"Jolly Roker" mega-circuit was so named to honour his diligence, enthusiasm, and amazing attendance record. In his weights programme he was one of the strongest members. You know, he always had a positive, almost philisophical, spin on everything - even in later years when we would frequently bump into him at Mitre10 or Countdown. "How are you doing Alan?" "Well I'm still here annoying everyone!" One of the best - sorely missed, Big Al will be held in our memories forever... From Tim, Anne & Family, and on behalf of all the Team and Members of Performance.

Al was a lovely genuine man. I had so many fun Korean. trawler lunches with him over the years. If I was up. the mast, and I saw Al coming aboard, I dropped straight down for lunch with him. He was always
interested in you and the ship work, and in your life.
A great guy. Sadly missed, but rembered with admiration.
I am in France, and hope to watch the service online.
