Verdun Henry James:
#8383, Sgt, WWII, 20th NZ Btn, Infantry HQ, Truck Driver. Peacefully at his home on May 15, 2017, with family at his side, in his 100th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Eileen. Dearly loved father and father-in-law of Sylvan, Verdun and Isobel, Eileen and John Phillips (dec), Merilyn and Leith Pemberton, and Sharon. Cherished grandad and great-grandad to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dearly loved and respected brother of the late Eunice, Anne, Malvern, Valmai and Eric. Loved and respected brother-in-law and uncle. A service to celebrate Verdun's life will be held at St Andrews Presbyterian Church, 10 Cox Street, Geraldine, on Saturday, May 20, at 1.00pm, followed by burial at Woodbury Cemetery.
