Jim you were a lovely man. Barbara Fleming. Formally I'd Alzheimers South Canterbury

September 13, 2018

Jim Campbell was a man on a mission in life and it could also be fairly stated he was travelling ahead of his time. His knowledge base was huge and he kept it growing. As a fellow South Islander I was transferred to the North Island and the Hangaroa / Tiniroto / Kuri districts as a livestock buyer for Waitaki NZR. I came to know Jim well, and have enjoyed the association with members of his family over many years. Jim deserves his rest and those left behind are the richer for having known him. Rest well Jim, till we meet again. Who knows there might just be some drafting gates on the farm up in Heaven.

Auntie Isabel, Bill, Alex, John, Christina, Margaret and Andrew my love and special thoughts are with all of you at this very sad and difficult time. Remember that the sadness of the loss of Uncle Jim is shared by many, and it is my hope that the love shown by your wider family, and your friends, brings a lot of comfort in the days and months ahead.

What a blessing it was to know Jim Campbell. Although my encounters with Jim were brief and few in number, I saw in his life works and his family the legacy of a good man. The photo attached, taken last March, I think proves his own delight with the life he led. He lives on in our memories.

Dear Uncle Jim, With fondest memories, spanning back over 70 years, of a dashing young uncle with a passion for classical music, educational books and his own ways of fixing things. It's now come time to bid you a sad farewell. Thoughts and love go out to Auntie Isabel and the family gathered to celebrate your remarkable life.
May you rest peacefully.
